Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

In this verse, the Lord Jesus told us that we must be born again if we want to enter the kingdom of heaven. Then what is rebirth? Many brothers and sisters hold this view: “We have been born again after being baptized.” Is that the truth? As to rebirth, the Lord Jesus also said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” (John 3:5). As we all know, God’s words are the living water of life for us. The Lord Jesus said, “The words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). It can be seen the water refers to God’s words. True rebirth means gaining a new life from the words of God. Mankind has been deeply corrupted by Satan and filled with its philosophy of life and its laws of survival. People rely on the corrupt satanic disposition to live and all they live out is Satan’s ugliness—arrogant and conceited, self-important and self-righteous, cunning and deceitful, selfish and despicable, greedy and evil—without any of the likeness of a real person. Those things of Satan have become our life. Because we rely on those things to live, we live in sin and are of the filth and not worthy of God’s kingdom. Thus, the Lord Jesus demanded that we must be born again if we want to enter the kingdom of God. After we are born again within God’s words, our satanic disposition will be purified and changed by His words, and then we will become a new creation who have God’s words as our life. Outwardly we look the same as before, however, our inner conditions, our perspectives, our laws of survival and our corrupt disposition have changed. God’s words and the truth have replaced Satan’s philosophy and become our life. We live by God’s words and gradually get rid of the bondage of sin and are gained by God. Thus, we are truly born again.
